The Day Sebastian Finds a Home

When Sadie and Marigold discover a small, mysterious creature curled up like a ball, they aren’t quite sure what to do. With gentle curiosity and a little patience, they help their new friend learn that the pasture can be a safe place after all. Sometimes the best adventures begin with kindness—and sometimes the smallest friends need a little help finding where they belong.
Sneak Peek
The big apple tree was just ahead when Marigold and Dandelion stopped so fast I almost bumped into them.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Look,” Marigold whispered. She gave a soft growl.
Dandelion popped up onto his back legs, his front paws tucked to his chest. His whiskers began wiggling like crazy.
That was his thinking pose.
That’s when I saw it.
What was that?
Wait.
I think it was a ball.
It was a funny color for a ball.
I walked up to it, wagging my tail just in case I should. I sniffed it.
It smelled like old socks.
It definitely wasn’t socks, though. It was round… sort of.
“Marigold?” I said.
“I’m coming, Sadie.” Marigold flattened her belly to the ground and slowly crept forward. She touched it gently with her nose.
The thing rolled a little.
“Smells like Nana’s socks when she takes them off at night,” Marigold said.
Dandelion inched closer, his whiskers wiggling like crazy.
“What is that?” he asked.
